Six arrested for stealing cell phones worth Dh1.3 million
Six men who stole cell phones worth Dh1.3 million in a well planned operation have been arrested, police said, and 783 phones were recovered.
The suspects stole the expensive phones from a warehouse in Jebel Ali Industrial area late on December 28, said Colonel Khalil Ebrahim, Deputy Director of General Department of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation.

Waitrose plans to open 20 UAE stores
Waitrose, the supermarket chain owned by British retailer John Lewis, said it will open more than 20 stores in the UAE by 2010, the first time its own brand will appear abroad.
Waitrose said it had signed a licensing deal with supermarket retailer Spinneys under which selected stores will carry the Waitrose fascia in Dubai, the first of which will open in April, 2008.

Burj Dubai mall opens its doors
Emaar Malls, a subsidiary of Emaar Properties, said yesterday it had opened the first phase of a shopping mall in the $20 billion Downtown Burj Dubai development.
Phase one of the Souk Al-Bahar has more than 50 shops and the largest of the development's three supermarkets, along with a range of restaurants and cafes. Over 50% of retailers will be open by the end of 2007, with a continuous rollout of retail and food & drink outlets in the following six months, Emaar said in a statement.

iPod Tower to be built in Dubai
Dubai: Real estate developer Omniyat Properties is planning to launch projects worth more than Dh3 billion in 2007, starting with a tower inspired by Apple's iPod MP3 player.
The company will announce at least two residential projects and one commercial development and will open its account in February with the innovative iPad residential tower in Business Bay.
The 23-storey building, which is scheduled to bring more than 200 units onto the market in 2009, was designed by Hong Kong-based architects James Law Cybertecture International.
The tower will sit atop a docking station angled at six degrees to give the exact look.
With a property portfolio worth Dh2.7 billion in its first year of operations - made up of four luxury commercial developments in Business Bay and one residential tower - the company has already made a swift impression on the market.
