The world’s most expensive cocktail

Sometimes I feel like people in Dubai and indeed Dubai as a city is living in "The Matrix" someone is sooner or later bound to tell us that all this isn't true and we should pop the pill and wake up. Why do I say this? well there is showing off your wealth which is fine I guess , I can stomach that (just about). Then there is saying to the world look what we built , ignoring the fact that the poor people that built it will never get the praise they deserve, I can cope with that too (just about).

However when Dubai , comes to be known to be the place for the most expensive cocktail in the world them I think there is a need to make a point about saying , What the hell ?. Quoting my source [News.com.au]

"ON the 27th floor of what is billed as the world's most luxurious hotel is a glass cabinet holding what is said to be the world's most expensive cocktail.

So far only two people have paid the 27,321 dirham – 27 marks the number of floors in Dubai's lavish Burj Al Arab, and 321 its height in metres – for the pleasure of sipping one glass of this 55-year-old Macallan single malt scotch whisky. "

So let's get this straight someone has paid £3,729.52 ($7,438.13) to have ONE glass of whisky, if that isn't strange in a Muslim country where alcohol is not that freely available then I don't know what is. Beyond this point is the fact that someone pays that much money for a drink when there are people in the same world (remember the Matrix reference was only a reference we ARE not in a parallel universe) dying to get a clean glass of water. Sometimes I wish I was in the Matrix then at least I could make it all go away.
