Historic Meeting to tackle key global issues

Dubai: 6 November, 2008 – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, will open the Inaugural Summit on the Global Agenda, organized by the Government of Dubai and the World Economic Forum on 7 November.

The outcomes of the Summit, to be held from 7-9 November 2008, will be presented at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos for further discussion and action.

More than 700 thought leaders from across the world have convened in Dubai to chalk out strategies that will help overcome some of the key global issues.

In all, there will be 68 Global Agenda Councils represented at the Summit each of which brings together the finest minds in that sector to propose solutions for the key issues and help shape a ‘post crisis’ world.

The Global Agenda Councils were created by the World Economic Forum to further its mission and strategic vision. They are multi-stakeholder groups of the most innovative and relevant minds, that aim to advance knowledge and collaboratively explore actions to the most important issues in the global arena.
