Robin Hood Of Dubai Gives Your Junk A New Home

Monday, 10 August 2009 No Comment

There is no hiding from it there are some people in Dubai who have and then their are the ones who have not, in the case of Dubai most of the have nots are the most hardworking of all. Some will say this kind of thing happens in every society but Dubai does seem to gotten kicking the little man when he is down perfected.

However all hope is not lost their may be some humanity left in Dubai yet. Just like Robin Hood all those years ago in Nottingham , England there is a new charity in Dubai that is being touted as the Robin Hood of Dubai. The reason is that it literally takes from the rich and gives to the poor the only difference being that the rich actually want to get rid of their possessions, so there is no highway robbery involved.   Take My Junk UAE set up by 34 yr old Faisal Khan , takes unwanted goods from rich ex-pats and gives them to those need them most, usually the downtrodden construction workers.

According to the website of Take My Junk UAE they do request that you pay between 20 aed and 100 aed (if you want that is) this is merely for the removal costs of the items and the sorting that is done before they are given out to the needy.

An article on the British Sky News website goes into some more detail and discusses the fact that many ex-pats are having to leave Dubai due to the doom and gloom around the place , but all this is a discussion for another blog post.

For now if you have any junk visit the website and give it to “The Surplus Collector” as they call themselves,  also give thought to the fact that it’s quite franky a disgrace the way the constructions workers are treated in Dubai.
