Dubai To Make Cadillac Fragrance

I love the smell of a new car or a freshly valeted one , but a new one is better. There must be something they put in these cars that are in showrooms across the world, you just feel the need to sit in and just smell and “be” at one with the car.  The aroma of leather (if you have the extra for leather upholstery) , rubber, dial , dashboard and the like have sent many a man crazy for years.

So when I head that Cadillac were creating a new fragrance to mark their 100th Birthday , I wondered if they had finally captured the new car smell or better still the smell of a 1970’s Cadillac , alas I was wrong.

Instead the fragrance which will be created by Dubai based company Beauty Contact Inc will smell of grapefruit and chamomile and a mix of geranium, tarragon and cinnamon – plus sweet spice and incense.

You would have to say it is awfully brave of company like GM who own Cadillac to start creating a brand around fragrances, maybe to mark their 100th birthday it would have made more sense to knock a few thousand off the price of a new car, now that would get you noticed.

However Beauty Contact Inc see it differently :

“Cadillac, the new fragrance for men is part of the recent Cadillac renaissance: Hot new products and redesigns that capture the mantra of life, liberty and the pursuit,” said Alwyn Stephen, a Beauty Contact director.

“Our fragrance is a relevant extension of the Cadillac lifestyle.”

There are wide range of products lined up , enough to fill any bathroom cabinet, they include spray, aftershave lotion, deodorant stick, hair and body wash. With a 100ml bottle of fragrance costing $73.

Not too sure this will take off , but Dubai again is involved in something quite peculiar , especially considering the global car situation.
