DIC Liverpool – The time is now

Saturday, 19 January 2008 No Comment

The time is now right for Dubai International Capital (DIC) to buy Liverpool. The rumour mill is in overdrive worldwide , it is the worst kept secret in football and finally the cat is out of the bag DIC have made a £500 Million offer for Liverpool FC. Like some cowboy film when the American owners talk they talk with a forked tongue, they don’t mean what they say and to be honest I doubt if they know what they are saying.

The denials have come thick and fast from the American camp with Hicks and Gillett denying it all saying “Any suggestion Hicks and Gillett are contemplating a sale of the club or any portion of it is categorically untrue”. I personally think they don’t mean any of this in business a statement like this is a “come and get us” plea. They know no one loves them at Liverpool , they know they can’t take the club forward and they know they not getting a better offer the time is truly right for DIC to pull this off.

It is shameful that it has come to this almost a year after the initial wranglings have passed, DIC are still prepared to buy Liverpool shame on those who said DIC were no good for the club because they would have an exit strategy. The fact DIC are still here shows many things , their determination to get what they want, their belief in Liverpool being the right club for them and their willingness for a fight. These are all the qualities owners of a club need. The Americans have a fight on their hands to keep Liverpool and DIC hardly ever lose.
